Book Barge Early Now

15/8/08

Hi Everyone,
Well if you wish to go to our beautiful island, make sure you book the barge early as times have changed when it comes to transport to the island.
Micat and Koringal Trader are the only barges going to the island now as Combie Trader has ceased business. Micat has taken over the Bulwer facilities previously owned by Combie Trader and also taken their website domain www.moreton-island.com which in itself has now given them number 1 spot for search term Moreton Island on Google.
I believe a lot of the accommodation that went with the purchase is being renovated now and changes are a plenty.

If anyone's looking for accommodation over the September holidays, still quite a few houses with vacancies, so don't leave it till the last minute.
Had an email from Brownie ( Coastwatch ) the other day and was told he and his wife have sold their house at Kooringal. I am sure it was a hard decision as we know how much they loved the island, , I wish them all the best for the future.

Have just had reports that western beach is badly eroded from the westerlies and if taking the Micat barge to Tangalooma wrecks, allow some extra time for high tides.
Benowa track near old ranger station is closed as it has eroded away, even has telephone lines exposed, cowan point camping area has lost all the timber fencing along the front.
